Yes, the outside markets together with shops are still there. However there is an ongoing contruction for MRT station. There are also some minor changes to the road and pathments. Other than that, alls still fine. If u are concern about alternative food choices and shopping within that area, rest assured its still all there. In future when the train station is ready, the place would be even more convenient.

Grand mercure is a 4 star hotel. There is a chinese restaurant on the second storey via lift or escalator from the 1st storey of the hotel. Next to Grand Mercure Hotel is Roxy square shopping mall. There is a cold storage supermarket on the 1st srorey. You can buy your beers there.
